Durable to WordPress migration checklist

Migrations fail on the details, not the big decisions. This checklist covers everything worth verifying when a Durable project moves onto WordPress — before, during and after the switch.

Before you convert

Freeze content changes, take a full snapshot, and record what a correct page looks like so you can compare afterwards.

  • Confirm the page renders correctly at your published Durable site URL in a clean browser profile
  • Screenshot every template at mobile, tablet and desktop widths
  • Export the current URL list and note which paths get traffic
  • Record current titles, descriptions and canonical tags
  • Note any third-party embeds: forms, chat, analytics, maps

During the conversion

Run Themify on each page while it is fully loaded — lazy-loaded media and generated section layout and stock media handling need to be on screen before capture.

  1. Open the page you want to convert in Chrome.
  2. Click the Themify extension icon in the toolbar.
  3. Press Generate theme and wait for the capture to finish.
  4. In wp-admin, go to Appearance → Themes → Add New → Upload Theme.
  5. Upload the .zip, activate it, and the page is live on WordPress.

After activation

Work through the site as a visitor before announcing anything.

  • Every internal link resolves inside WordPress
  • Forms submit and confirmations appear
  • Analytics and consent scripts fire
  • Redirects are in place for changed URLs
  • Sitemap and robots.txt are regenerated

Rollback plan

Keep the Durable project live on its original URL until the WordPress version has run clean for a week. Reverting DNS is far cheaper than rebuilding under pressure.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a Durable to WordPress migration take?
The conversion itself is minutes per page. Realistically, budget a day for QA, redirects and DNS on a small site.
Will I lose SEO rankings?
Not if URLs are mapped, redirects are in place, and titles and descriptions are carried across. The rendered content stays the same, which is what matters most.
Should I migrate everything at once?
Convert the highest-value pages first, verify them, then work down the list.

Try it in minutes

Themify is the fastest way to turn any live webpage into an installable WordPress theme (.zip). No coding, no rebuilding, no design handoff.
